How We Review & Rank

How We Review & Rank Products

SelectRanker builds buying guides around the question a shopper is actually trying to answer: which product best fits this use case, budget, space, compatibility requirement, or priority?

1. Define the buying intent

We start with the exact product category and the reasons people compare options in that market. The important criteria change by category, so a router, espresso machine, office chair, treadmill, dash cam, and pet feeder should not be judged by the same checklist.

2. Verify relevant products

We aim to use real, currently available products that match the main-product intent. Accessories, replacement parts, and adjacent products should not be substituted for the product the page promises to compare.

3. Compare category-specific factors

Depending on the category, we compare performance, capacity, dimensions, fit, compatibility, connectivity, software support, power or charging needs, durability, usability, recurring costs, replacement parts, warranty, returns, and customer support.

4. Explain tradeoffs

A recommendation should explain who each pick fits, why it earned its place, what a buyer should verify, and the main compromise. The most expensive or feature-heavy option is not automatically the best choice.

5. Keep claims grounded

We do not invent prices, ratings, review counts, specifications, warranties, availability, launch dates, certifications, or testing claims. If a detail is uncertain, readers should be told what to verify.
